Christmas Toy Drive
The Christmas Toy Drive collects toys and delivers them in the beginning of December to the small former mining community of Pocahontas. In recent years toys have also been given other charities
Community Christmas Store
Community Christmas Store is a multidenominational charity serving the poor of the Valley. OLN collects donations through a collection box in the Commons The collections are distributed through the “store” in December.
The Creation Care Committee gathers regularly to reflect on how our faith walk is connected to God’s call to care for creation and explores issues such as climate change, clean air and water, renewable energy sources, and their impact on the poor.
Use your gifts and talents to build the Kingdom through faith formation. We are in need of catechists, bible study facilitators, small group leaders, leading Breaking Open the Word or Children’s Liturgy of the Word, or helping with Middle School or High School formation.

Family Promise (Interfaith Hospitality Network)
Roanoke Valley Interfaith Hospitality provides temporary housing and skills development to homeless families. OLN is a host congregation four or five times a year, for a week at a time Parishioners volunteer in various ways to make the guests feel at home.
Join the OLN gardeners as they beautify the flower beds.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that utilizes donor funds and volunteer labor in order to provide affordable housing for the working poor. Parishioners participate through financial contributions and work days.
The Haiti Ministry Committee meets regularly to discuss fund raisers and to determine how we can best meet the challenges of our twin, Papaye Normal School, which is a teachers’ college. The committee also sponsors a Solidarity Week and sends a sea container to the school each year.
This ministry provides weekly scripture study at the Roanoke City Jail for up to six inmates at a session. The scripture study is based on the regular Sunday readings. The ministry also provides Christmas cards with stamped envelopes to the inmates.
Kairos Prison Ministry
This interfaith group provides a three day, forty hour weekend retreat to present and share Christ with inmates in maximum security prisons.
This group serves as the parish liaison with the Virginia Catholic Conference (VCC). The VCC provides a voice for Catholic philosophy in public policy matters and represents the dioceses of Arlington and Richmond.
Logos is an ecumenical theater company born out of OLN and is comprised of artists and musicians of all ages from the Roanoke Valley. Our mission is to produce quality theatrical events that educate, entertain and enhance people’s lives and to raise money for local charitable organizations. This group mobilizes the Roanoke valley parishes in July to collect clothing, household, religious and hygiene items for 8,000 seasonal migrant farm laborers throughout Virginia’s Southside and along the Eastern Shore.

Help provide loving care for our children during the 9:30 and 11:30 liturgies and other special occasions.
Work with the church secretary to help in the office with answering the phones, stuffing bulletins, and helping with special events, making copies, and so much more. Did you know the secretaries favorite color is yellow?
This Roanoke Valley ministry feeds hungry people every day. OLN prepares and serves lunch on the 4th Sunday of every month.
This ministry sponsors refugee families in their resettlement in the Roanoke area and provides assistance in tutoring English, teaching adults to drive and taking the families and helping families adapt to a new culture.
